Interview with Luke Wright
> How did you learn to work with clay? At what age did you learn?
I've always loved working with my hands, and I worked with clay in elementary school, middle school, high school, and then eventually majored in Ceramics at Indiana Wesleyan University.
> When was Mudlove Pottery started? What were the events leading up to the initial founding of the company?
The most important moment leading up to opening MudLOVE was when I was driving to my current job as a construction worker with my dad. God spoke to me and said to make this business (not named at the time) about something other than myself. Eventually that thought from God turned into giving 20% of every sale to help Central Africans get clean drinking water through Water for Good (waterforgood.org)
> What's the farthest location from which you've received an order?
> What is the most popular product at this time?
MudLOVE bands are the most popular product. They are used in many ways. Encouraging gifts, raising money for fundraisers, and personal reminders. Also (mostly kids) because they are just cool!
> Do you have any plans for future products?
We do. Incorporating a new style of bracelet that has a single bead on it with a letter or small image. Different style of mugs. We have a few tricks up our sleeves, but you'll just have to wait and see! Follow us on Facebook and Instragram as MudLOVE pottery.
> How many workers do you have?
We just hit the 40 people mark. 15 Full time, and a lot of people that work from home which is great!
> How many are volunteers?
We don't have any volunteers at this point, but one our employees started by volunteering.
> At what point did you realize that providing clean water was what you wanted to do?
Not too long after deciding to give away 20% (a month or two) I picked clean water in Africa. You can't have clay without water, at the same time you can't have life without water.
>At the moment do you have any future plans for expanding your ministry?
We are consistently growing and expanding. No major expansion moves right now as far as space goes, but we do hope to keep growing and sharing the love with people.
