Interview with Molly Reed
> When did City Harbor form? What's behind the name?
We formed about 3 years ago! Originally my duo partner was a guy named Josh. Not to far into our journey he and his family felt called into church ministry. Now City Harbor is myself and Robby Earle! Robby is like a brother to me! He is a great guy and I feel blessed to be singing and doing ministry with him! The story behind the name is simply a reminder to seek and find rest in the safe harbor of Jesus's arms! The definition of "city" is any place where people are gathered, and we hope that our music not only reaches "city's" of people but also links those who listen, to Jesus!
> A lot of our girls are starting to think about their life calling, and how they will serve the Lord. At what point did you realize that this your purpose/God's will for you? How did you know this was God's calling for you?
I have been singing and writing songs for as long as I can remember! I grew up singing in church and started playing guitar in 7th grade! I remember my first concert was an Amy Grant Christmas show and I was in awe of the way she wrote music, sang from her heart and related to people from stage like everyone was an old friend. That moment I prayed, "Lord if this is what you want for my life...IM IN!!!" And ever since then He has been opening doors and windows to get me to where I am now. Ill be honest, there were moments when I questioned if music was really what God called me to, but He always pointed me in that direction. I encourage everyone I meet you first, seek The Lord and FOLLOW HIS PEACE!! If something feels off, it probably is. Also remember that sometimes the right way is the hardest way to go. The path to find your calling isn't always smooth and paved but it's worth every step!
> Where has your favorite tour stop been? What did you see God do there?
We just got to play at 'Night Of Joy' in Disney World...that was awesome!! The coolest part was seeing so many people from all over the country, in a world known theme park, all gathered to worship our King! I love seeing and feeling people unite together like that!
> What's been City Harbor's biggest challenge so far? How has God used that in your life?
I got married in february! My husbands name is Mike Grayson and he plays in a band called Mikeschair. We have had to adjust to being apart and have gotten really good at communication! Its hard but SO worth it! But the thing with being a touring artist is that no two days look the same! I am a routine kinda person! So when things change on the drop of a dime, I've definety had to master the art of "rolling with it"! God has used every up and down and twist and turn for my GOOD. My job is a constant reminder of the fact that I am not in control and God has taught me a LOT about surrendering my life daily to Him through it!
> Do you write your own songs as well as perform them?
Yes! I actually started out as a songwriter before I signed a record deal. Songwriting is my first love and is something I will always do! I often joke with my husband that I when im old and grey i wanna be sitting on the front porch with a guitar and a cup of coffee writing songs!
> Do you have a favorite song? Why is this your favorite?
My favorite song that I've written is a song called "I Still Believe". I battle depression from time to time and writing songs is often one of the ways to work through those seasons. This song came from a place of feeling numb and "low". But I have found that its in those moments that I reach out to The Lord the most and remember my need for Him the most! That song is basically a prayer and a reminder that faith isn't always a feeling-even when I don't 'feel' God, I'm still choosing to believe and know that He is with me no matter what!
> What are your current projects? Will you be releasing another song / album anytime soon?
We are currently finishing up our debut album! It will release in early 2014! We have a 4 song EP releasing to iTunes on October 22nd and our current single "Come However You Are" is at radio now!
> Do you have any advice for our girls here at GGFG as they pursue God's calling?
Cling to Him in everything you do! Even if you don't "feel" Him, trust Him and know that he is there! I find so much comfort and hope in proverbs 3:5 "trust in The Lord with all your heart and mind and do not lean on your own understanding". He created YOU and have you the passions and desires of your heart for a reason! Rest in the fact that He is always working things for YOUR good!
